AI innovations impress Optometric Symposium audience
Widespread ChatGPT use and remote medical consultations have taken artificial intelligence (AI) and telemedicine into the mainstream, including treatment for vision problems. At the 21st Hong Kong International Optometric Symposium this year, professionals from Mainland China, the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong, discussed AI and tele-optometry developments. They examined how technology could “open the eyes” of the visually impaired and reduce staffing pressure on primary healthcare. They also shared thoughts on whether technological advancements would endanger employment prospects for optometrists.
Optical Fair draws over 12,000 buyers
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA), the 31st HKTDC Hong Kong International Optical Fair concluded successfully today. The three-day fair (8 to 10 November) proved popular, attracting more than 12,000 buyers from 92 countries and regions to source the latest eyewear products and designs.
Hong Kong International Optical Fair opens today
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA), the 31st edition of the HKTDC Hong Kong International Optical Fair returns, bringing together 700 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions. The physical exhibition will run at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) for three days from today (8 to 10 November). Under the EXHIBITION+ integrated mode, the online exhibition will continue until 17 November, providing a global business platform for the optical industry.
In-person Hong Kong International Optical Fair returns
The 31st Hong Kong Optical Fair, organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association (HKOMA), will return to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) as a physical exhibition for the first time since 2019. The physical event will run from 8 to 10 November under the EXHIBITION+ integrated physical-online mode, when about 700 exhibitors from 11 countries and regions will present the latest eyewear designs and products.

With this year’s Avant Garde theme, the 22nd Hong Kong Eyewear Design Competition’s winning pieces reflected the creativity, acute sense of style and boundless imagination of local designers. The competition aims to encourage innovation and enhance the design quality of Hong Kong eyewear products, identify new talents and promote Hong Kong’s creative products to international markets.
HKTDC Lifestyle Sourcing Show | Physical + Online concludes, attracting some 9,500 buyers
Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), the HKTDC Lifestyle Sourcing Show | Physical + Online came to a successful conclusion on 10 December. The physical show (1-3 December) and online show (6-10 December) welcomed some 9,500 buyers to visit in person or browse through a huge array of products online, while more than 3,100 business meetings were arranged during the show.
HKTDC Lifestyle Sourcing Show opens next Wednesday
With global sourcing become increasingly digitalised in the wake of the pandemic, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is staging the HKTDC Lifestyle Sourcing Show | Physical + Online, a trade exhibition held in both online and physical formats, to help businesses adjust to the new sourcing model and overcome challenges resulting from the current business environment. The show will gather more than 580 exhibitors from nine countries and regions, showcasing the latest toys, baby products, gifts and premium, houseware, optical products and wine & spirits. The physical show takes place from 1 to 3 December at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC). After joining the physical show, buyers and suppliers can engage through a dedicated online exhibition platform that will run from 6 to 10 December.
7 autumn fairs draw 156,000 buyers, 9,600+ exhibitors
As the autumn trade fair season draws to a close, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) has revealed that more than 9,600 exhibitors and nearly 156,000 buyers from 165 countries and regions attended the seven fairs it organised in October and November. Among specific markets, there was an increase in the number of buyers coming from Turkey, Brazil, Iran, Vietnam and Macao.
27th HK International Optical Fair draws over 14,000 buyers
